GiveMap FAQs

GiveMap is a simple way to find nearby nonprofits and charities that accept physical item donations so your items get a second life where they're needed most.

Built by Givvu, it's completely free for donors and nonprofits. Donors are able to find the right nonprofits to donate to. Nonprofits can share with the community where they are located and what they accept.

We combine CRA T3010 filings with public web information processed by our OpenAI-assisted pipeline to build full nonprofit profiles.

To keep results relevant, we currently include Canadian charities with meaningful physical donation (gifts-in-kind) activity and exclude organizations reporting under CAD 10,000 in physical donation (gifts-in-kind) revenue and those that only accept insurance or securities. Coverage is Canada-first and expanding.

Please note that some information is generated using AI tools (particularly the accepted items, and mission statements), which means details may occasionally be wrong, incomplete or outdated. We encourage both donors and nonprofits to verify information directly with organizations before donating, and we welcome corrections through our suggestion tools to help keep the data accurate for everyone.

We refresh annually from CRA filings and on a rolling basis from community submissions and partner updates. Policies can change, so please follow each nonprofit's latest instructions before donating.

Results are ranked by relevance to your item and proximity, with profile completeness and recent updates also helping. Givvu does not process or store your personal data; when you contact a nonprofit, you'll share details directly with them.

Thank you for your help. Use the "Suggest" or "Suggest edit" button. We review submissions regularly and will add or reach out as needed. Nonprofits can claim, update, or request removal of profiles.
